Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education’s Saturday Exploration Program (SEP) provides a wide variety of challenging and enriching classes on Saturday mornings using 21st century learning strategies for gifted and high achieving students.
Each course combines creativity, leadership, inquiry, critical thinking, and technology. Each lesson is designed to encourage students to discover, explore, and grow.

Primary Grades: 2nd & 3rd
Students will learn about magnetic poles, magnetic attraction and repulsion, the Earth’s magnetic field, and compasses as they investigate magnets with hands-on activities. Instructor: Sherley Harris, 2nd Grade Dual Language Teacher
Making and Tinkering – 2nd & 3rd Grade
If you could build anything, what would it be? At making and tinkering you will be able to explore your creativity with different challenges. We will use and explore different materials that will foster collaboration and creativity within the group. Instructor: Haydee Romero, 2nd Grade Dual Language Teacher
Mini Theater – 2nd & 3rd Grade
In these four weeks we will plan, design, write and create all the elements of a puppet show. Students will work together to create props and puppets and perform a show of their writing, or retelling. Instructor: Ryan Aaron, 2nd Grade Dual Language Teacher
Upper Elementary: 4th & 5th
Design and Build Your Dream School – 4th & 5th Grade
Have you ever wanted to make changes to your school? Here’s your chance to build a new school, just how you dream it should be! Use Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Engineering to design and build your dream school with an awesome library, perfect playground, and plan the ultimate school party or field day. Maybe your principal will even love your ideas so much, they will use them at your school. Instructor: Jarrad Bennett, Kindergarten Teacher
During each session students will complete a challenge designed to help arctic explorers, that have been stranded by a blizzard, survive and return to safety. They will do so utilizing the 6 STEM Design Process (ask, imagine, plan, create, test and improve) during each task. Instructor: Gissia Nuñez, 4th Grade Dual Language Teacher
